Song of the Day: Thursday

It's my birthday! It's my birthday!

This is one of those milestone years when people get maudlin and try to drown their sorrows. When I was younger, I was obsessed; I used to think I was gonna pull a Jimi or a Marilyn. So I am quite happy to have made it to this birthday.

Thinking of this birthday reminded me of this song. Not quite a birthday song, but not one you hear U2 singing so often either. Happy Birthday to me!

Day two of the retreat. A lot to process. It all seems to boil down to the question of who is in control of your life? Are you in control or are you following? Makes me think of this song by U2.

Song of the Day: Friday

Today Lady Z and I celebrated St. Paddy's day at what is to become my new local. It's on my way home from work and I "know" the bartender JFlo.

As good Catholic girls [*snort*], Lady Z and I had oysters, fries and beer in honor of our favorite Irish saint. Then we went to the bar where JFlo showered us with attention. We chose lots of fun, moody music and sang what words we could remember. Good times!

Anyway, we didn't get to play this song, but it's one of my favorites from those Irish boys! But, this one is always a favorite, too! I have yet to meet a song of theirs that doesn't worm its way into my heart. That's a good thing.

Song of the Day: Valentine's Day 2012

So on Valentine's Day, instead of a sappy love song, I turn to some of my favorite Irish boys: U2. I had hoped to find the original video online, and maybe it exists, but most of what I found was others' creative interpretations. So, I opted for this version of "The Unforgettable Fire." yeah, no images just that voice and music, those lyrics. Happy Valentine's Day!
